New TE-cooled NIR image intensifier module is the world's first with extended near-infrared sensitivity, enabling multichannel spectroscopy at photon counting light levels.
Hamamatsu Japan – January 15, 2008 – Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. has developed the world’s first thermoelectrically cooled near-infrared image intensifier with spectral sensitivity as far as into the near-infrared region as 1.7 microns, which will enable multichannel spectroscopy under extremely low light levels (photon counting levels). The new image intensifier will be available in a new series of modules, the H10740 series. Starting on February 1, Hamamatsu Photonics will begin accepting orders for the new modules from Japan-based as well as international manufacturers of spectroscopy instruments.
It is expected that the modules will contribute to higher performance in Raman spectrometers by making possible the high-speed detection of extremely weak near-infrared light.
