Our Approach to Conflict Minerals

In 2010, "The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act" was enacted in the United States. The article 1502 requires U.S listed companies to disclose and report the use of "Conflict Minerals". They include 4 minerals "Gold, Tin, Tungsten and Tantalum" mined in Democratic Republic of Congo or adjoining countries. The goal of this is to cut funding to armed groups in these regions that profit from the illegal trading of the minerals through violent and abusing human rights.

Hamamatsu will aim procurement without being involved in the above conflict.
Accordingly, we request our suppliers to understand our procurement policy and cooperate with our survey, and furthermore to procure minerals from the smelters approved as the Conflict-Free(1). Through this activity, we will provide appropriate information to our customers.
