Basic stance on human rights and labor

Basic policy

Hamamatsu Photonics believes that it is the responsibility of each and every employee to pursue the unknown and unexplored and to create new industries using photonics technology to increase corporate value. This is why our talented and dedicated people are the foundation of our business. We express this principle clearly in the management philosophy in our Basic Policy on Corporate Governance.

As stated in its Fundamental CSR Policy, the Company respects its employees, support their skills development, and provides safe and comfortable working environments. As outlined in our Corporate Code of Conduct, which is informed by the Fundamental CSR Policy, we respect human rights, prohibit child labor and forced labor, and prohibit discrimination in employment.

In August 2017 the Company signed the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), in solidarity with its basic stance on human rights. This stance closely conforms with the Company’s Fundamental CSR Policy as described above.

We make continuous efforts to improve the treatment of the human rights and labor.
