高速性が求められるライトシート顕微鏡法においては、従来、広い視野と高速な読み出しを両立することは非常に困難でした。
ORCA-Lightningは、121フレーム/秒という高速読み出しを、4608画素×2592画素の圧倒的な広視野で実現する科学計測用CMOSカメラです。ライトシート読み出しモードを用いた場合、従来カメラと同じ画素数(2048画素×2048画素)で約6倍の読み出し速度を実現します。

従来CMOSカメラと同程度の読み出しノイズを維持しながら、約6倍の読み出し速度で、今まで十分に捉えられなかった高速な現象も撮像することができます。
ライトシート顕微鏡に用いられるカメラは高速性が重要視され、速い読み出しが求められています。そして、読み出し速度を上げた画像では取り込みに得られる入射光量が少なくなるため、S/Nの高い画像を求めようとするとカメラの読み出しノイズを低く抑える必要があります。ORCA-Lightningは、従来CMOSカメラと同程度の読み出しノイズを維持しながら、約6倍の読み出し速度で画像を取得できます。
また、インターフェースとして「CoaXPress」を採用し、PCへの高速データ取り込みの最適化により、高速での画像取得を実現しています。
お客さまの目的に応じて、最適なモードを選択できます。
ORCA-Lightningでは標準飽和電荷量モード(12 bit)での読み出しに加えて、高ダイナミックレンジ向けに高飽和電荷量モード(16 bit)での読み出しにも対応しています。

※1 内部同期モードとは、カメラ単体で動作させるモードです。
※2 エッジトリガモードとは、外部機器から入力されているトリガ信号が立ち上がる/立ち下がるタイミング(エッジタイミング)で露光を開始するモードです。
※3 読み出し同期トリガモードとは、外部機器から入力されているトリガ信号のエッジ(立ち上がり/立ち下がり)でカメラの露光を終了して読み出しを開始、同時に次の露光を開始するモードです。
※4 グローバルリセットモードとは、外部からのトリガ信号に同期して全画素一斉に露光を開始するモードです。
ボルボックスの遊泳運動を連続撮像し、3Dイメージング像を構築しました。
ボルボックスの遊泳運動を撮像するにあたり、約8ボリューム/秒の条件を前提に2次元の撮影速度(観察エリア)と3次元の撮影速度(撮像枚数)を決定しています。
ORCA-Lightningの高速性により、従来CMOSカメラに比べて、広い範囲をより深く撮像できることを示しています。
