LiDAR, which stands for Light Detection and Ranging, is a remote sensing method that measures distance by emitting laser light to a target and measuring its reflection with a sensor. LiDAR is increasingly important in applications such as automotive ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), Automated guided vehicle (AGV) and range finding.
Pulsed laser diodes and detectors are employed in LiDAR.
We offer a variety of high-sensitivity photodetectors that can be used for short-, mid-, and long-range detection by ADAS and autonomous vehicles. These include silicon PIN photodiodes, silicon and InGaAs avalanche photodiodes (APD), silicon photomultipliers (SiPM or MPPC), and CMOS distance image sensors.
We also offer custom specific products such as APD arrays integrated with Trans impedance Amplifier, to support the specific requirements of different systems.

MPPC is a device having multiple APD pixels operating in Geiger mode. Its excellent sensitivity enabling detection of extremely weak light at photon counting level is suitable for long range measurements.


Si APD can measure longer distances than Si PIN photodiodes since it has high sensitivity for long wavelength of up to 900 nm. We also offer APD with a band-pass filter that decreases effect of background light, thereby supporting longer measurement distance at a higher accuracy.

Si photodiode

Basic detector for rangefinders. Suitable for short-range measurement or use under bright light. It is affordably priced and features low-voltage operation. With a high-speed response of 500 MHz, it can measure from the visible range up to 1000 nm. JEDEC level: 2a.

Pulsed laser diodes (PLD)

The laser diodes feature high-peak power under pulsed operation. Various types are available, with different peak output powers and emission widths.
