Photonic crystal fibers

Photonic crystal fibers are optical fibers that can amplify ultrashort pulse laser light. They exhibit excellent performance in controlling and transmitting light due to the different refractive indices of materials and the fine internal hollow structure.

Photonic crystal fibers

Photonic crystal fibers (PCF) are a core optical fiber technology that forms the foundation for white light lasers, high-power amplifiers, and ultrafast fiber lasers. This unique fiber technology enables the amplification of ultrashort pulse laser light. Unlike conventional optical fibers, PCFs are constructed by combining materials with different refractive indices and incorporate intricate internal structures, including hollow regions. This design allows for the transmission and guidance of ultra-high brightness light.

PCFs can be engineered in various configurations to achieve novel optical properties. For example, they can be designed to transmit only specific wavelengths or to exhibit highly nonlinear characteristics, utilizing the wavelength dependence of the effective refractive index.
