FAQs | Si strip detector

Describe the depletion voltage in Si strip detector.

The Si strip detector depletion voltage is large compared to planar diodes made from the same substrate. At a strip pitch of P and a strip diffusion width of W, the larger the P, or the smaller the W/P, then the larger the depletion voltage becomes.

About what value of bias resistance can AC readout type Si strip detectors handle?

The bias resistance is formed by poly-silicon resistor and can be adjusted as needed in a range from a few hundred kilohms to several ten megohms (custom order product).

About what value of coupling capacitance can AC readout type Si strip detectors handle?

The coupling capacitance is determined by the insulating film (coupling film) between the strip diffusion layer and the aluminum readout electrode. This capacitance can be adjusted as needed in a range of about 120 pF/mm2 to 180 pF/mm2 (custom order product), the higher the coupling film withstand voltage, the more difficult to achieve a large coupling capacitance. For example, if the coupling film withstand voltage is 100 V, the coupling capacitance will be about 140 pF/mm2 or lower.
