In recent years, veterinarians are aiming to offer advanced healthcare and diagnostics for pets similar to the care humans can get. This includes dental care and diagnostics of teeth-related problems in pets. Increasingly, veterinarians now offer full intraoral radiography as part of their diagnostic portfolio. Hamamatsu's intraoral sensors are ideally suited for such demanding applications due to their high sensitivity, rugged design and excellent image quality. Check out our latest product lineup for veterinary intraoral use including our unique size 3 sensor, and feel free to contact us if you need further information.

These days PCs and laptops are designed to operate the CPU in various power-saving modes when not performing tasks. This feature helps to preserve battery power and also helps extend the PC's life. However, running the CPU in a low power state may cause a delay in requesting data transfer from the sensor. Consequently, the PC may occasionally lose some of the image data, in which case the X-ray image would need to be retaken.
Previously, Hamamatsu created a countermeasure called “Processor Idle Disable” to protect against data loss, and this information is available in our application note, K44-B60015-1, which is available upon request. Although the PC's power consumption may increase, disabling the processor idle function can prevent data loss (image corruption).
Now Hamamatsu has developed an advanced solution that ensures 100% image integrity without these side effects, and has integrated this feature into our latest Gen 3 sensors. By incorporating FIFO buffer memory our Gen 3 sensors such as S15584, S15585 and S15589 can ensure complete image data transfer without any image corruption or data loss. So users will never have to worry about the need to retake X-rays, which is especially important when considering patient dose for human or veterinary dental use. Users can be sure to obtain reliable, high quality images with every shot, even if they have “processor idle” mode enabled on their PC or laptop.
Bite proof: Our new Gen 3 sensors have an extra ruggedized housing, making them practically bite proof.

The sensor has a 51 x 34 mm effective area and can capture multiple teeth at once.
In addition, our unique size 3 sensor has an advanced image-stitching algorithm built-in that eliminates the seam between the 2 sensors inside.
Note: The seam artifact depends on the X-ray energy and dose, and may appear under certain operating conditions.
