Inclusion in ESG indexes

As an adjunct to ESG evaluations by FTSE Russell, this index was designed for measuring the ESG (environmental, social, and governance) performance of Japanese companies. It performs screening using assessments of the magnitude of environmental impacts and of companies' management of climate change risks.

Our company has been selected for inclusion since 2022.

This index is composed of companies that offer high appeal to investors and that meet requirements of global investment standards, including efficient use of capital and investor-focused management perspectives. It is calculated by JPX Market Innovation & Research, Inc. and Nikkei Inc.

This index was developed by JPX Market Innovation & Research, Inc. From among top-ranked stocks by market capitalization listed on the TSE Prime Market, it selects leading Japanese companies that are expected to create value  on the basis of two measures of value creation: 1) return on capital based on financial results, and 2) market valuation based on future information and non-financial information.

Taking the TOPIX stock index that indicates trends in the Japanese market as its universe, this index determines the weighting of constituent stocks based on companies' state of disclosure of environmental information and level of carbon efficiency (carbon emissions volume per unit of sales).

Implemented jointly by UK-based Financial Times and German research firm Statista, it is based on degree of greenhouse gas reduction (change in emissions relative to sales) by companies headquartered in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as on the companies' CDP scoring, Science Based Targets (SBT) accreditation, etc. Our company was selected as one of the top 275 companies.
