Hamamatsu announces construction of a new laser irradiation facility for the new application researches of a 100-Joule class high-repetition rate diode-pumped solid-state laser

2013/09/30

Hamamatsu, Japan – October 1, 2013 – Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. has announced that it will begin construction on a laser irradiation facility to promote applied research into the world’s most powerful 100-joule class ultra-high-output, high-repetition-rate diode-pumped solid-state laser(DPSSL). The facility will be built on reclaimed land adjacent to the No. 1 Research Building at the company’s Industrial Research & Development Center, which is where efforts are based to develop high-power (several joule class)high-repetition DPSSL for laser nuclear fusion-based power generation. The groundbreaking ceremony will held on October 2, 2013. The facility is expected to be completed by October 2014.
