Webinar - Low latency imaging for next-gen mid-circuit quantum measurements

Join us on September 10, 2024, from 16:00 to 17:00 CET for an exciting webinar "Low Latency Imaging for Next-Gen Mid-Circuit Quantum Measurements." Hear from experts in their field, who will discuss cutting-edge quantum processing technology, including fast readout systems for quantum processors and groundbreaking qCMOS camera technology.

A control system for driving adaptive quantum circuits on atom- and ion-based quantum processors using camera-based readout

Abstract: Atom- and ion-based quantum computing platforms offer high scalability and fidelity but are hindered by slow readout times (< 100 Hz), limiting mid-circuit measurements for quantum error correction and advanced algorithms. We will present a user-programmable FPGA-based control system for adaptive quantum circuits on trapped atoms and ions, achieving kHz readout rates with Hamamatsu’s ORCA-Quest qCMOS camera and Quantum Machines' processor-based OPX controller. The system supports real-time processing with sub-100 µs latency, enabling complex gate sequences, mid-circuit readout, and efficient atom management. This enhances circuit layer operations per second (CLOPS) and overall quantum device performance. The presentation will cover the setup, camera, and controller details, and present results.

Optical Quantum Computing: Maximizing detector potential with qCMOS technology

Abstract:  Mid-circuit quantum measurements of neutral atoms or ions impose specific and demanding requirements on camera systems. The precision, speed, and sensitivity needed for these measurements are crucial for the success of quantum experiments. The ORCA-Quest 2 qCMOS camera has revolutionized the scientific camera landscape and disrupted established technologies by offering a unique combination of resolution, low latency readout, and market-leading noise characteristics.  The presentation delves into the technological details that make this leap in camera technology possible and explains why qCMOS technology is the optimal choice for a wide range of optical quantum computing readout use cases.

Presenter:  Dr Sebastian Beer, Application Specialist, Hamamatsu Photonics Europe
