Event details

Webinar: Building Optical Engines for the Future of Biomedical Innovation
Date: Tuesday September 22, 2026
Time: 17:00 CEST
Channel: Register via Optics.org
Speaker: Andrey Voloshin, Senior Technologist and Pilot Line Leader, Hamamatsu Photonics

What to expect

Future healthcare advancements depend on compact, reliable, application-specific optoelectronic modules. Biomedical innovators may already understand the biomarker, assay, patient need or clinical workflow they want to address, but translating that need into a robust optical subsystem is often the critical challenge. This webinar will explore how light sources, detectors, optics, electronics, calibration and packaging come together to form practical optical engines for next-generation health monitoring and point-of-care diagnostics.

What you will learn

  • Understand key biomedical module archetypes, including tissue and health monitoring, point-of-care diagnostic readers, biomedical spectroscopy, Raman and molecular sensing, OCT and imaging modules, and MIR, breath and QCL diagnostics.
  • Learn how measurement needs, optical-engine architecture and integration choices shape the move from laboratory concept to compact, manufacturable module.
  • See why successful biomedical photonic systems depend on combining the right emitter, detector, optical path, electronics, sample interface, calibration strategy and manufacturable package.
  • Explore how Hamamatsu’s custom module development approach and Pilot Line service can support real-world biomedical and health-monitoring applications.
  • Discover how Hamamatsu’s Pilot Line in collaboration with PhotonHub can help to transition from photonic module concepts to market-ready application-specific modules and products.

Who should attend

The session is designed for those interested in how complete optical engines are specified, integrated and prepared for deployment in biomedical environments.

Presenter Bio

Based in Europe, Andrey works with established companies and innovators to translate photonics concepts into market ready modules — from early feasibility and prototyping through design optimization and collaboration with Hamamatsu’s manufacturing teams in Japan. Having extensive experience with opto-electronics, integrated silicon photonics and start-up environments, he joined Hamamatsu Photonics in 2024 to lead customer projects that connect application needs with practical, manufacturable photonics solutions.
