A future where the Earth, its people, and all living things coexist in a harmonious balance -
Hamamatsu Photonics Group aims to make this dream a reality through research into “light” which is the source of all matter.

We have recognized "addressing climate change issues" as one of its key challenges and will strengthen its efforts and promote information disclosure based on the TCFD recommendations to achieve our "Long-Term Vision of Global Warming Countermeasures" set in March 2020, and the certified SBT targets. To reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the value chain, we will promote energy conservation in our group companies, actively introduce renewable energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions from non-energy sources, develop and provide low-carbon products. We will continue to contribute to the realization of carbon neutrality through such efforts as collaboration in the value chain.*1

Joining RE100

Hamamatsu is pleased to announce that we have joined RE100 (100% Renewable Electricity) *2, an international corporate initiative with the goal of ensuring that 100% of the electricity used in business operations comes from renewable energy sources, on 3rd October 2022. We're committed to sourcing 100% renewable electricity across its entire global operations*3 by 2040.

Renewable Energy Introduction Plan

As one of specific measures, we will convert all electricity used at our domestic sites*4 (about 124 GWh/year) to renewable energy*5 starting in October 2022. This will result in a reduction of approximately 55,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year. In addition, we are planning to introduce self-consumption solar power generation facilities (total power generation capacity: approx. 1.1 MW) and green power certificates at our overseas subsidiaries. We will continue to promote group-wide measures in the future.
