How to Apply

Application process

Applicants submit their entry through a simple online form. Your application should include:

  • Project summary
  • Description of the idea
  • Relevant photonics elements or technologies involved
  • What makes the idea innovative
  • Feasibility of the concept
  • Optional supporting files (PDF, images, diagrams — max. 5 files, 20 MB per file)

 

Judging process

All submissions follow a transparent, three‑step evaluation:

 

  1. Initial pre‑selection: The jury reviews all applications and selects a shortlist based on the judging criteria.
  2. Interviews with shortlisted applicants: Shortlisted participants are invited to present their idea and answer questions.
  3. Final selection: One winner is selected.

Judging criteria

Projects are evaluated on:

  • Innovation: Originality of the idea and how it explores new directions in photonics.
  • Feasibility: Technical soundness and potential for further development.
  • Impact: The value the concept could bring to science, technology, or future applications.
