浜松ホトニクス、広島大学大学院統合生命科学研究科の杉拓磨特定教授、および日本ビューワークス株式会社が共同で進める研究課題「In vivo 4D顕微鏡の開発」が、このたび国立研究開発法人科学技術振興機構 (JST)の「研究成果最適展開支援プログラム (A-STEP)産学共同ステージⅡ (本格フェーズ)」に採択されました。
A-STEPは、大学や公的研究機関等で生まれた研究成果の実用化と社会還元を目指す技術移転支援プログラムです。本研究は、A-STEP産学共同ステージⅡ (本格フェーズ)として、2026年10月から2031年3月までの4年6か月間にわたり実施されます。JSTによる支援に加え、参画企業によるマッチングファンドも活用し、総額約1億5,000万円規模で推進される大型プロジェクトです。
広島大学大学院 統合生命科学研究科の杉拓磨特定教授が率いる研究室では、これまで、一度の撮影で生体組織の立体情報を取得できる「ライトフィールドイメージング技術」に着目し、研究を進めてきました。2022年度から2024年度まで実施されたA-STEP産学共同 (育成型)の支援のもと、従来のライトフィールド顕微鏡の課題であった空間解像度を大幅に向上させる技術の開発に成功しました。
今回採択されたA-STEP産学共同ステージⅡ (本格フェーズ)では、杉研究室、日本ビューワークス株式会社および当社による産学連携のもと、高い画質を維持しながら、生きたマウスなどの体内で起こる生命現象をリアルタイムで3次元観察できるライトフィールド顕微鏡の開発を進めます。さらに、その実用化および社会実装を目指します。
本技術により、脳の働きの解明、がんの発症・進展メカニズムの理解、口腔・腸内細菌叢の研究など、生命科学・医学分野における幅広い研究の進展が期待されます。
