浜松ホトニクスは、量子カスケードレーザ(以下QCL:Quantum Cascade Laser)とMEMS回折格子を搭載した、中赤外レーザ光を8~10マイクロメートル(以下μm、μは百万分の一)の範囲で高速に変化・発振する小型QCLモジュール「波長掃引パルス量子カスケードレーザ L14890-09」を新たに開発し、2018年12月3日(月)から販売を開始しました。
波長掃引パルス量子カスケードレーザは、外部共振構造により広帯域な波長掃引が可能なパルス量子カスケードレーザです。これまで大型、高価で高性能な据え置きタイプのフーリエ変換赤外分光光度計(FT-IR)による分析が一般的であった中赤外分光計測を、小型かつ持ち運び可能とするための光源として応用が期待されます。
また、高速に波長を掃引するレーザ光源である本製品は、分析の高速化や遠隔化といったこれまでの赤外分光では困難であった計測を可能とします。新しい赤外分光計測用光源として、農工業現場や医療機関などにおける農産物の糖度測定や血中グルコース測定の非接触化や、プラスチックやフィルムの分析など工業製品のインライン計測の高速化を実現します。
高速な波長掃引を実現するために搭載したMEMS回折格子は,文部科学省ナノテクノロジープラットフォーム事業(東北大学微細加工プラットフォーム)の支援を受けて開発しました。短期間で製品化したことが評価され、平成30年度「秀でた利用成果」の最優秀賞に選出されました。
平成30年度「秀でた利用成果」の最優秀賞は、1月30日(水)から3日間、東京ビックサイトで開催される『nano tech 2019 第18回 国際ナノテクノロジー総合展・技術会議』にて利用成果発表および授与式が執り行われます。
本製品は、外部共振器を構成し波長を掃引します。MEMSミラー上に回折格子を形成したMEMS回折格子、広い発振帯域を有する利得媒質、低反射コーティングといった外部共振器を構成するために不可欠な技術を独自で開発しました。平成30年度「秀でた利用成果」の最優秀賞を受賞したMEMS回折格子は、高速な波長掃引を実現すると共に、製品の小型化にも大きく貢献しました。
