当社では、水資源の重要性を認識し、水使用量の削減や再利用に努めています。社内では節水活動の他、本社工場では純水製造に使用する水資源の半分をリサイクル水で賄うシステムを導入し、年間約200 千m3の水資源の再利用を実現しています。

当社では全生産拠点及び研究所において法令や自主基準に基づいた取水量、排水量のモニタリングを行っています。また、外部の分析機関による排水分析を毎月実施し、最終放流口手前の排水を分析しています。異常値を検出した場合には、迅速に原因特定に取り組むとともに適切な対応を実施し、環境法規制遵守を徹底しています。
当社では、2016年からCDP水セキュリティへの参加・回答を継続しています。また、国内外の生産拠点について、水リスク評価ツール「WRI Aqueduct」を利用したリスク評価を行っています。2024年1月現在、国内の生産拠点・研究拠点において顕著なリスクは存在しないことを確認しています。今後も継続してリスク評価を行っていく予定です。
「WRI Aqueduct」での水リスク評価に加えて、「浜松市防災マップ」、「いばらきデジタルまっぷ」など、地域のハザードマップを用いて国内の生産拠点・研究拠点の浸水リスクを評価しています。その結果、天竜川に近い新貝工場に浸水リスクがあることが分かりました。2020年8月に完成した新貝工場の2棟では、防水壁や浮力跳ね上げ式防水板を設置するなど水害対策を行っています。
・地下水涵養事業・森林保全作業
地域の地下水を保全するため、磐田市環境保全推進協議会および周辺地域の地下水採取者で構成する中遠地域地下水利用対策協議会との共催で定期的に行われております地下水涵養事業・森林保全作業に会員として参加しています。適切な森林を育成することで地下水の涵養量を保ち、将来世代にわたり豊かな水資源を享受するための活動になります。76期(2023年9月期)は、中遠地域地下水利用対策協議会主催の地下水涵養事業(檜の間伐)に参加しました。
・防潮森の整備
当社は生物多様性保全活動と地域貢献の活動の一環として「~KALAプロジェクト」に参加しています。「~KALAプロジェクト」とは、静岡県が主導している浜松地区防潮堤計画に則して、防潮堤の内陸側に防潮森を植樹し、津波の被害を防ごうという試みです。2017年から植樹活動や草刈りなど、年に1~2回参加しています。
