X線TDIカメラは、LiB内部の電極位置や積層ズレといった欠陥のインライン検査を可能とします。二次元検出器を用いたX線検査の場合、X線源の照射中心以外では、対象物に入射するX線に角度がつくことで画像に歪みが生じてしまうため、精密な検査を行うために撮像部位ごとの位置調整が必要になる場合があります。これに対し、X線TDIカメラでは搬送方向に対して垂直にX線を照射し、連続して得られる画像を積算してイメージングを行うため、歪みのない画像を取得することが可能です。これにより、大きな対象物に対しても、インラインでの精密な検査を実現します。
X線TDIカメラによる検査では、X線照射エリアを扇型の狭いエリアに絞り込み、その中を高速に移動させるだけで検査が可能です。また、S/Nが優れているため低線量でも十分にボイドの有無を判別する検査を行うことができます。さらに、X線の照射域を狭めることで、検査装置から漏れ出る線量を低減させることができ、装置自体の簡素化にも貢献します。

例としてC12300シリーズでは、Lib用電極(負極)内に混入した20 μmサイズのSUS片をインラインで観察することが可能です。
