浜松ホトニクス株式会社は、このたび「テラヘルツ波活用に向けた研究開発と関連製品群」により、第18回レーザー学会産業賞「貢献賞」を受賞しました。
本受賞では、テラヘルツ波検出器、テラヘルツ波分光分析装置、テラヘルツ波長板といった要素技術を体系的に開発・製品化し、テラヘルツ波領域における実用化基盤を構築してきたことが評価されました。
浜松ホトニクスは今後も、研究用途から産業応用まで、テラヘルツ波活用の可能性を広げる技術開発に取り組んでいきます。
テラヘルツ波は、光と電波の中間に位置する電磁波であり、両者の性質を兼ね備えた領域として多くの可能性が期待されています。当社はこの未開拓領域の活用を見据え、長年にわたりデバイス開発と応用研究の両面から取り組んできました。
今回の受賞は、当社が培ってきた光技術・真空管技術・光計測技術を基盤に、テラヘルツ波という新たな領域の実用化に挑み続けてきた成果の一つであり、テラヘルツ波の検出・可視化、制御、分析を支える技術群を継続的に開発・製品化してきた取り組みに対するものです。今後も当社は、研究用途にとどまらず、品質・製造工程管理、材料評価、半導体検査、ビームモニタリングなど、多様な分野におけるテラヘルツ波活用の可能性を広げることで、光産業の発展に貢献していきます。
受賞対象となった技術群は、テラヘルツ波の検出・可視化、制御、分析を支える要素技術として開発・製品化されてきました。これらの技術群が連携することで、学術研究から産業応用まで、テラヘルツ波活用の可能性を広げています。
当社のテラヘルツセンサは、メタサーフェス技術を活用してTHz波を電子に変換する独自技術をベースにしています。THz PMTおよびTHz I.I.は、高速応答や高感度検出、可視化に対応し、THz波の微小な変化の観察やビームモニタリングに活用できます。研究用途から応用研究まで、THz波活用の入口を支える製品群です。
テラヘルツ波長板は、THz波の偏光状態を制御するための光学素子です。超広帯域のTHzパルス全体に対応し、入出射が同軸で扱いやすい構造を備えています。THz偏光イメージングやTHz-STM、CEP制御など、先端的なTHz応用を支える技術として活用されています。
テラヘルツ波分光分析装置は、減衰全反射(ATR)法を用いて、通常環境下でも安定した分光計測を可能にする装置です。環境中の水蒸気の影響を受けにくく、安定性・再現性に優れていることから、結晶性評価や発酵モニタリングなどへの応用が期待されています。THz波の分析技術を研究用途から実用領域へ広げる製品です。
